Students from Tulane, Loyola, Xavier, and Dillard are making Martin Luther King Day a “day on, not a day off” and spending their holiday in service.   Over 50 college students are bringing the university experience to the SPA campus on Monday, January 18th!

We look forward to seeing you at this fun family day filled with college-themed games, giveaways, and an opportunity to discuss your goals with a current college student.

Students who have earned their college t-shirt are encouraged to wear it with pride.

On Friday, November 13, 2009 our students, staff, and families enthusiastically cheered on the Hornets at the New Orleans Arena.  The evening was filled with pizza, cheering, chanting and dancing.  Our students with the top behavior scores were chosen to be Baseline Bees and Ball Kids on the court before the game.  A special thank you to our Staff, Board of Directors, and the Hornets for making our night at the basketball game a huge success.

We had hundreds of students and families at SPA for our Halloween Festival on Saturday, October 31st.  Thank you to our Halloween Committee, staff, very special Tulane volunteers, and generous families for donating candy, cupcakes, treats and their time to create a safe and fun-filled Halloween for our students.

SPA students visited Dillard University to see a special tribute to Mama Africa Miriam Makeba on Thursday, October 29, 2009. Our students were so poised and well-behaved that the speaker gave them a shout out!

On October 7, thirty-two Success Preparatory Academy students attended the New Orleans Opera’s preview performance of Puccini’s Tosca.  Many students loved the dramatic plot while others admitted the beautiful music almost brought them to tears.  One student proclaimed he was the first person in his family to attend the opera.  In addition to the opera impacting our students, Success Preparatory Academy students made quite an impression within the community.  Audience members stopped teachers to compliment the “orderly” students for their outstanding behavior during the opera and intermission!

REMINDER - SUCCESS PREPARATORY ACADEMY UNIFORM: SPA uniform polo shirt (purchased at school) tucked into khaki pants (no cargo pants) with a black belt and all black shoes.

A very warm thank you to all of our guests and volunteers that attended the first annual SUCCESSfest family fun day at the Wicker Academy Playground on May 16, 2009.  We had over 235 parents, students, and community members join us for crawfish, bbq, snoballs, games, raffles and fun.
