We had hundreds of students and families at SPA for our Halloween Festival on Saturday, October 31st.  Thank you to our Halloween Committee, staff, very special Tulane volunteers, and generous families for donating candy, cupcakes, treats and their time to create a safe and fun-filled Halloween for our students.

SPA students visited Dillard University to see a special tribute to Mama Africa Miriam Makeba on Thursday, October 29, 2009. Our students were so poised and well-behaved that the speaker gave them a shout out!

On October 7, thirty-two Success Preparatory Academy students attended the New Orleans Opera’s preview performance of Puccini’s Tosca.  Many students loved the dramatic plot while others admitted the beautiful music almost brought them to tears.  One student proclaimed he was the first person in his family to attend the opera.  In addition to the opera impacting our students, Success Preparatory Academy students made quite an impression within the community.  Audience members stopped teachers to compliment the “orderly” students for their outstanding behavior during the opera and intermission!
